Giovanni Turchini: Alternative sources of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids are needed

Giovanni Turchini, associate professor at Deakin University in Australia, presented “Fishmeal/Fish Oil Use in Aquafeed & the Evolving Nutritional Profile of Farmed Seafood” at the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s GOAL 2016 conference in Guangzhou, China, on Sept. 21, 2016.

In his presentation, Turchini gave a comprehensive historical look at global fishmeal usage and said that aquaculture must, in the future, break its dependence on marine resources like fishmeal and fish oil.
