New GAA Members From Vietnam, India

The Global Aquaculture Alliance in mid-August welcomed two companies to its growing list of members.

SeaVina Joint Stock Co. is GAA’s newest Governing Member. SeaVina is a seafood processor and exporter based in Can Tho City, Vietnam. Established in 2009, it exports shrimp and Pangasius to Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Middle East.

In conjunction with the Global Seafood Shareholding Co. farm in Vietnam’s Kien Giang Province and the Grobest Industrial Co. Ltd. feed mill in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai, Vietnam, SeaVina supplies shrimp bearing labels with three stars under the Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) third-party certification program.

The SeaVina processing plant produces both white and black tiger shrimp in a variety of raw, cooked and value-added forms. It is also BAP-certified to process Pangasius.

Apex Frozen Foods has joined GAA as a Sustaining Member. Based in Andhra Pradesh, India, the integrated operation produces shrimp bearing three BAP stars. Apex has five farms—RVR Chinnaro, Siri Aqua Farms and Export, K. Venkata Satya Narayana Murty, R. Gopala Rao and Venkateswara Harjiana Welfair Society—in a BAP integrated operating module. The Apex Frozen Foods processing plant is in Kakinada, and its NSR Aqua Farms Pvt. Ltd. hatchery is in the Vishaka District of Andhra Pradesh.
